This community/school theatre project that I helped found in 1998 gave elementary school children the chance to be involved in all aspects of a stage production. Over a ten week period after school hours, students helped to design and build sets, create costumes, learn back stage skills and rehearse their lines and blocking.
For Mikado, our first production, which included 80 children on stage, 75 students painted the fabric panels from which their authentically styled kimonos were made.
